This Chondroitin-rich formula is designed to help with spinal disc
problems, fractures, spondylosis deformans, and certain back problems to
which specific breeds may be prone. Disc Aid™ is a remarkable formulation of 14 synergistic nutrients offering unique and powerful support to connective tissues and promotes healthy functioning of the spine.
Disc Aid™ starts with bovine tracheal cartilage, a
source rich in Chondroitin -4- and -6- sulfates (glycosaminoglycans)--found
in high concentration in the spine and intervertebral discs, they are essential for repair and synthesis of connective tissue. Then we add Manganese sulfate,
Silicon, Vitamin C,Calcium, Vitamin B6, Vitamin D, Magnesium, Zinc, Taurine
and L-serine (essential amino acids) to create a synergistic formula that
helps lubricate and regenerate the tissues that make for a healthy back and
discs.
Disc Aid™ is recommended as a
longer term therapy (3 weeks to 3 months) on a “saturation” basis, because
the glycosaminoglycans provided need to build up in the system in order to
work properly.
Bovine Tracheal Cartilage (200 mg) is an excellent, naturally rich source of glycosaminoglycans, especially chondroitin -4- & -6- sulfates that work specifically to support and maintain healthy intervertebral discs. ). Glycosaminoglycans (GAGS) are the principal components of cartilage and synovial fluid found in joints. They also make up connective tissues like collagen, tendons, and ligaments. Because GAGs are so fundamental to the maintenance and formation of connective tissue, they are often referred to as the "glue of life".
Manganese Sulfate (100 mg) helps maintain the optimal structure and elastic nature of connective tissues, including those of the intervertebral discs. Damaged or degenerative tissues, deficient in chondroitin sulfates, require additional sulfate for improved hydration. Manganese sulfate provides the additional sulfate necessary for the metabolism of chondroitin sulfates. Disc Aid™ provides manganese in the sulfate form to help the body produce more of its own chondroitin sulfates.
Equisetum Arvense (horsetail rush) (10 mg) is an excellent source of the essential trace mineral, silicon, involved in the formation of bone and other types of connective tissue. Silicon is also an important constituent of glycosaminoglycans.
Vitamin C (100 mg) enhances GAG metabolism and aids in the production of collagen.
Vitamin B6 (10 mg) is involved in the formation of certain proteins. It aids the nervous system and promotes normal functioning of the musculo-skeletal system.
Vitamin D (30 IU) aids in absorption of calcium from the intestinal tract and assimilation for bone formation.

Taurine (50 mg) is a biological source of sulfate.
L-Serine (30 mg) is an amino acid that links the glycosaminoglycan structure to the protein portion of connective tissue.
Pectin (100 mg) is a buffering agent for Vitamin C and provides bulk.
Each capsule provides: 200 mg Bovine Tracheal Cartilage (Source of
Chondroitin -4-and-6-Sulfates), 100 mg Manganese Sulfate (as Manganese 33
mg), 100 mg Vitamin C (from Calcium Ascorbate and Ascorbic Acid), 10 mg
Vitamin B6, 30 IU Vitamin D3, 100 mg Calcium (Ascorbate, Carbonate), 50 mg
Magnesium (Sulfate), 25 mg Potassium (Citrate), 5 mg Zinc (Sulfate), 100 mg
Pectin, 50 mg Taurine, 10 mg Equisetum Arvense, 30 mg L-Serine, 5 mg
Pepsin.
As a dietary supplement, give orally or break capsule open and mix with
food. For doses of more than one capsule, divide between AM and PM. Under
15 lbs: one capsule, 16-35 lbs: two capsules, 36-80 lbs: three capsules,
over 80 lbs: four capsules.
