Especially created to help dull coats, dry skin,
redness, “hot spots”, and hair loss. Coat Discovery™ is a great source of the essential fatty acids Omega-6, including Linoleic Acid (LA) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), and Omega 3 fatty acids containing ALA , EPA and DHA, combined with Omega 9 fatty acids (Oleic Acid). The biologically active fats in Coat Discovery™ will provide tone and elasticity to the skin and hair because they will be incorporated into the cell membrane to support its structural integrity, prevent moisture loss, better flow of nutrients and to keep toxins from entering.
Coat Discovery™ is an essential fatty acid (EFA )
supplement. It is an especially rich source of the
essential fatty acids Omega-6, including Linoleic
Acid (LA) and Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), and
Omega 3 fatty acids containing ALA, EPA a n d
DHA, combined with Omega 9 fatty acids (Oleic
Acid).
The fatty acids in Coat Discovery™ play a vital
role in the structure of cell membranes, promote
healthy coat and skin, reduce healing time, support
proper cardiovascular and nervous system
functions and supports the immune system.
What Are Essential Fatty
Acids and Why Are They
Important?
Essential Fatty Acids (EFA’s) are polyunsaturated
fats that the body cannot manufacture and must
be obtained from foods. Essential Fatty Acids are
essential because they provide the body with
what it needs to manufacture cell membranes,
which is the thin membrane that surrounds all
cells. Cell membranes regulate the passage of
materials into and out of the cell and if a membrane
is damaged, the cell may not get the nutrition
it needs to function properly.
When EFA levels are inadequate a variety of conditions
may develop including:
• Hair loss
• Dry, scaly skin
• Painful, swollen joints
• Heart and circulatory abnormalities
• Lethargy
• Infertility
• Susceptibility to infections
• Liver dysfunction
• Poor tissue structure
• Abnormal brain development
Another function of Essential Fatty Acids is the
production of prostaglandins.
What Are Prostaglandins ?
Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances that
regulate many of the body’s functions, such as
the immune response. Prostaglandins are produced
from (Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids) and they
must be in proper balance to maintain optimal
cellular functions.
Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids
In the body, Omega 3 EFA’s are produced from
Alpha-Linolenic-Acid (ALA). They include EPA
(Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA
(Docosahexaenoic Acid). The Omega 3 fatty
acids are especially important to the health of the
heart, brain and cell membranes. The Omega 3
E FA’s in Coat Discovery are from fish oils.
Omega 6 Essential Fatty Acids
Omega 6 essential fatty acids are made from
Linoleic Acid (LA) and include Gamma-linolenic
acid (GLA) and Dihomogamma linolenic acid
(DGLA). Omega 6 fatty acids also include
Arachidonic acid (AA), a non-essential Omega 6
fatty acid. The body uses GLA and DGLA to produce
the PGE1 series of prostaglandins, which
support immune system function, skin health and
regulate pro-inflammatory reactions. The Omega
6 EFA’s in Coat Discovery™ are from Primrose oil
and Borage oil.
What's the Importance of
Gamma Linolenic Acid ?
GLA is normally produced in the body from
Linoleic Acid (LA).
Processed foods generally do not provide these
EFA’s in an optimal form that can be used by the
body. The complex processes used to remove
odor and to increase the shelf life of pet foods
degrades EFA’s into unusable substances. Diets
rich in saturated fats or processed vegetable oils
do not provide the appropriate EFA’s. In fact,
these processed oils compete with EFA’s and
“block” their ability to produce prostaglandins.
Supplementing with Coat Discovery™ avoids EFA
deficiency and promotes adequate and balanced
prostaglandin production.
Omega 9 Fatty Acids
Oleic acid is an Omega 9 fatty acid and is monounsaturated.
It is not considered essential
because the body can produce it. Some of the
health benefits associated with Omega 9 fatty
acids are related to cardiovascular support and
maintenance of cholesterol within normal range.
Virgin Olive oil is the source of Oleic Acid in
Coat Discovery™.
What Is Flax Seed Oil?
Flax Seed oil is a fatty acid supplement that is
rich in Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA) an Omega 3
EFA. It also contains Omega 6 (Linoleic Acid)
and Omega 9 (Oleic Acid). Most diets supply
much higher amounts of Omega 6 as compared
to Omega 3 causing an imbalance of the Omega
6/Omega 3 ratio.
Flax Seed oil helps to correct this imbalance,
which is important for optimal cardiovascular and
immune system functions, as well as for proper
prostaglandin synthesis.
About Olive Oil
Olive oil is rich in Oleic Acid, a mono-unsaturated
fat. It is considered to be the “good” fat that can
protect the heart and support skin health. Olive
oil helps to prevent the loss of the skin’s natural
moisture. It helps to soften skin and attract moisture.
Including Virgin Olive oil helps to keep your
pet's skin soft while at the same time protecting
against the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Why Should You Give Your
Pet Coat Discovery™?
Coat Discovery™ will help restore the appropriate
ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6. Supplementing
your pet's diet with Coat Discovery™ will improve
coat sheen and luster as well as overall health.
Some other manufacturing procedures use heat,
which renders the fats inactive and unusable by
the body.
The oils in Coat Discovery™ are cold pressed
which means your pet gets the full advantage of the natural compounds.
